I looked to the heavens
and I looked to the sea,
and I looked to the sea,
on the contrary there
was just me.
Rain mixed with sunshine
gray skies and blue
no matter how I wish
no wish  would come true.
I scribbled on a page
and then tore it all out,
leaving a void where
where the sorrow
would mount.
I had to believe it and
to know it was true
you walked away
and the heartache
just brew.
I begged and I cried
to be next to you,
to share in a moment
 or a hello or two.
But the absence remained
and the void it just grew
and I  wrote and I wrote
to pretend it was you.
